Brand identity
Building a brand
Developing a great brand identity
A successful brand identity takes time to develop. It encapsulates the ‘why’ of a company’s existence and communicates this through everything from the sign on the door to the label on the delivery box.
So, why is brand identity important for industrial and technology companies? The obvious answer has to be that a strong brand differentiates a company from the competition and, if it is done well, encourages loyalty amongst prospective customers and other stakeholders.
So, what is involved in creating a successful brand identity? This isn’t an exhaustive list, but it includes:
- Establishing the ‘why’? Why does your company exist, why is it better than the competition, why do your customers feel the way they do about your business?
- Finding out what your existing and prospective customers think of your current brand identity.
- Deciding what tone works for you and will help you keep and attract existing and prospective customers (ie. confident, informative, fun etc.)?
- Establishing how this tone can be reflected in your logo, colour palette and typography to create a visual language that is used throughout your company’s assets.
Here at 4CM our team is used to delivering well researched brand identity consultation and design. From start-ups to established companies, our clients have benefited from our comprehensive approach to brand identity development.
Our approach
When it comes to helping our clients create a successful brand identity, here is our approach.
- We interrogate the brief – for example, when creating a new company logo should it have ties to a legacy logo, will a specific icon be kept, a font changed etc.?
- We may run a workshop or use questionnaires to ascertain what the company image is at present and where they see themselves as a business in the future.
- We provide a range of example colour palettes, fonts and websites to gauge likes and dislikes before the brand design process is finalised.
- We collate the information and develop a range of visuals that captures the brief and client feedback – offering both ‘on brief’ concepts and more ‘out of the box’ ideas to challenge expectations is important to us.
- Once a concept has been chosen, we work closely with our clients to achieve the final agreed logo, colour palette, typography, photographic style etc.
- Our brand identity guide is then created to ensure our clients and their suppliers have all that is needed to implement the new or revised brand identity.
Brand identity can give a competitive edge that is worth investing thought and time in. Why not see how we can help you stand out from the crowd?
